4/5 year old Players ‘2010 - A new Beginning’
BYSC has always tried to bring the best to our players in terms of coaching, facilities and fun focused programs. We have the recreational teams who play for the fun, friendship and the love of the game. We also provide a Rep level of play that could progress to provide the opportunity to play at the Regional, Provincial or University levels with scholarships.
As Canadian soccer move forward, the CSA and OSA have developed a long term player development program after years of discussion.
For 4/5 year olds, the encouragement has been for years, just to let them have fun while learning important skill, through fun games – not competitive ones [where the objective is kick the ball forward and chase after it to score].
Many clubs have adopted this philosophy over the past few years and have been enjoying the success of this fun way of developing young players into very skilled youth players.
BYSC, starting this year of the world cup, on our continued promise of providing the best programs, will also adopt this way of developing the skills and love of Soccer through fun games.
BYSC, In an effort to bring our Club in line with the CSA and most clubs in Ontario, will run our 4/5 year old indoor and outdoor programs in such a way as to achieve these recommendations. The competitive games that we may have been familiar with, will move to a more Inclusive style of fun activities and games. Each Player will have a ball and follow the instructions of the coach leading the Fun activities. They will have lots of encouragement and allowed to succeed during the activities. Parents may participate with their children if they wish or help in encouraging their really shy ones to participate. The sessions are intended to be enjoyable and exciting. Coaches may choose to have the last 10 minutes for fun small sided games of 3v3.
All our Coaches will be provided with training on Sunday April 11 or Sunday April 18th from 12-1pm and given a package of these activities that we have found to be quite enjoyable to the children. We will provide support, assistance and answer questions that may arise.
The BYSC feels that in light of the success of larger clubs, this will be an excellent way to introduce the game of soccer to young players. We look forward to parents understanding and support of our initiative to the betterment of their little players at this important stage of development. Welcome to a great new season!
Jim Brown - BYSC Development Committee.
