1.0 MISSION STATEMENT
1.1 Every indoor soccer player deserves equal playing time regardless of his/her ability to play.
2.0 REGISTRATION
2.1 Players eligible for registration are those born between January 1, 1991 and December 31, 2006.
2.2 All players must have a completed registration form signed by a parent or guardian.
2.3 Proof of birth must be seen by a club representative or must accompany a mailed in registration form.
2.4 All players must be registered on the O.S.A. RDS (Registration and Discipline System) a minimum of 48 hours prior to participating in any soccer related activity. Players may participate ONLY WHEN REGISTRATION IS CONFIRMED ON THE RDS.
2.5 Players will be placed in the appropriate age division based on their year-of-birth.
2.6 Players may be placed in a higher age division than their own only with the consent of the BYSC. Parents requesting their child(ren) play up are assuming the inherent increase in risk to their child(ren)’s safety, and should do so only after careful consideration.
2.7 Players who are developmentally or physically challenged may play in a division deemed appropriate for that child and his/her needs. This can happen only with the permission of the BYSC. A medical form from the player’s medical doctor must accompany this request. The BYSC must receive permission from the Southeast Ontario Soccer Association for this request to be permitted.
2.8 Players cannot be guaranteed permission to play with another child of their choice. Exceptions to this are a request for a sponsor’s child to play on a sponsor’s team, a coach’s child on his/her team and families requesting siblings playing together. The BYSC reserves the right to place players on teams, and the primary focus will be forming even teams.
3.0 INDOOR TEAMS
3.1 Players will be allocated to a team in their respective age divisions.
3.2 Players will be assigned to a team based on a January 1 - December 31 birth year.
3.3 We do not guarentee any special requests.
3.4 Teams will be formed with 8 to 14 players.
3.5 Each team will have at least one coach and may have up to three coaches assigned to it.
3.6 All indoor teams will be mixed teams with efforts made to put the same number of females and males on each team.
4.0 RESPONSIBILITIES OF CLUB
4.1 Ensure safe facilities and equipment for all players.
4.2 Provide equal opportunities for all interested soccer players, regardless of age, sex, handicap or ability to play.
4.3 Provide up-to-date rules to coaches, game officials, and players.
4.4 Encourage coaches to be reasonable in their approach to length of playing time.
4.5 Ensure proven and respected coaches are chosen to coach all teams.
4.6 Carry out police record checks for all volunteers & executive involved in the BYSC as per the club’s policies and procedures.
4.7 Reserve the right to accept or deny any coach, volunteer, game official or player with justification.
5.0 RESPONSIBILITIES OF GAME OFFICIALS
5.1 Make every effort to ensure awareness of up-to-date rules and regulations of soccer.
5.2 Maintain a professional appearance by wearing a game official shirt, black shorts and black socks, and appropriate footwear.
5.3 Ensure you have a high level of mental and physical fitness for all soccer activities.
5.4 Perform effectively all soccer related activities by attending organized game official clinics, meetings, lectures and games.
5.5 Attend all game official related activities assigned except for illness or personal emergency, or otherwise find a suitable replacement and notify the BYSC.
5.6 Respect those involved in all soccer related activities - players, parents, coaches, other officials, BYSC executive, and office personnel.
5.7 Ensure all players are dressed properly prior to any soccer activity - no jewellery can be worn; any item deemed dangerous to a player or other players must not be worn. REMEMBER SHINPADS (COVERED BY SOCKS) ARE MANDATORY FOR ALL PLAYERS.
5.8 Be prepared - carry your whistle, watch, pen, and game sheet to all games.
5.9 Be prompt - arrive 15 minutes prior to your assignment.
5.10 Blow your whistle loud at all times. Explain your calls and communicate effectively.
5.11 Be consistent, objective, and courteous in calling all infractions.
5.12 Use common sense to ensure fairness and fun for all players.
5.13 Be present at all team handshakes after games. Ensure no player spits on his/her hands. Any infraction of this rule must be reported immediately to the referee coordinator. Please confirm player’s name and team in such an event.
5.14 Remain on the field until all players and coaches leave the field of play.
5.15 Inform referee coordinator of any major concerns.
5.16 Provide a written report of any dismissals and cautions no later than 48 hours after the game in question.
5.17 While it is difficult to make sure players are getting equal playing time, try and watch for players who are getting considerably more time and notify the coach.
5.18 The use of alcohol or illicit drugs will not be tolerated during any soccer related activity. This unacceptable behaviour could result in a ban from all soccer related activities.
6.0 RESPONSIBILITIES OF COACHES
6.1 Teach all players on your team the rules of the game and how to play fairly.
6.2 Be patient and generous with your players. Praise should be given as well as good examples of fair play shown. Players should not be yelled at or criticized during practices or games.
6.3 Players should be shown how to play soccer for fun.
6.4 Players must be played equally, regardless of ability to play.
6.5 Teach your players respect for the game, game officials, team mates and other teams.
6.6 Encourage sportsmanship. Players should shake hands at the end of each game.
6.7 Keep informed and up-to-date on rules and principles of soccer.
6.8 Notify the BYSC immediately of any serious injury. Have player follow physician’s advice before returning to any soccer activity.
6.9 Notify the BYSC of any major concern or problems with players, parents or officials.
6.10 Notify the BYSC if any player is involved in the use of alcohol or illicit drugs during any BYSC activity.
6.11 Address minor misconducts of players where deemed necessary.
6.12 Verbal abuse and harassment of other coaches, players, parents, game officials, BYSC executive, or office personnel will not be tolerated. This unacceptable behaviour could result in a ban from all soccer related activity.
6.13 The use of alcohol or illicit drugs by a coach will not be tolerated during any soccer related activity. This unacceptable behaviour could result in a ban from all soccer related activities.
6.14 Coaches must not be left alone with a player at any soccer activity unless written permission has been received from the child’s parent or guardian.
6.15 Coaches must only allow players on their team list to play unless approved by the BYSC.
7.0 RESPONSIBILITIES OF PLAYERS
7.1 Only turf shoes, flat soled indoor soccer shoes, or running shoes can be worn. Outdoor cleats are not allowed. SHINPADS ARE MANDATORY.
7.2 Do not wear items that are dangerous to you or other players including all jewellery (earrings, necklaces, watches, bracelets, etc.), hair barrettes, headbands, casts or splints. With the referee’s permission, a player may wear a cast or splint when playing only if it is covered with cloth material and will not pose a hazard to other players.
7.3 Long hair should be tied back and eyeglasses secured with a strap.
7.4 Please play by the rules and respect the rules.
7.5 Players must be respectful of coaches, team mates, other players and game officials.
7.6 Have fun and be a good sport.
7.7 Respectfully speak up if you have any questions of the coach or game official.
7.8 No spitting on hands prior to shaking hands with opposing players. Spitting on hands will result in immediate suspension.
7.9 Verbal abuse and harassment of other players, coaches, parents, games officials, BYSC executive, or office personnel will not be tolerated. This unacceptable behaviour could result in a ban of any soccer related activity.
7.10 The use of alcohol or illicit drugs will not be tolerated. This unacceptable behaviour could result in a ban of any soccer related activity.
7.11 PLAYERS MUST PLAY ONLY ON THE TEAM THEY ARE ASSIGNED TO.
8.0 RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARENTS OR GUARDIANS
8.1 Respect all those involved in your child’s soccer activity - other players, coaches, game officials, fans, BYSC executive members, and office personnel.
8.2 Be positive and encourage your child to do the best he/she can.
8.3 DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CHILD ALONE DURING ANY SOCCER ACTIVITY. WRITTEN PERMISSION MUST BE GIVEN TO YOUR CHILD’S COACH IF A CHILD IS TO LEFT ALONE AND/OR BE GIVEN A RIDE WITH A BYSC VOLUNTEER.
8.4 Please ensure your child behaves responsibly at all soccer activities.
8.5 Where your child has been seriously ill, please provide written permission from his/her doctor to return to any soccer activity.
8.6 Encourage your child to play by the rules.
8.7 Verbal abuse and harassment of any player, coach, game official or BYSC executive member will not be tolerated. This unacceptable behaviour could result in a ban of all soccer activities.
8.8 The abuse of alcohol or illicit drugs will not be tolerated during any soccer related activity. This unacceptable behaviour could result in a ban of all soccer activities.
9.0 POLICE RECORD CHECKS
9.1 Police record checks will be conducted on all coaches, managers, trainers, camp staff, office personnel over the age of 18.
9.2 Police record checks will be completed on all coaches, managers and trainers for all teams prior to teams beginning to practice and play for the season.
9.3 Police record checks will be completed on all paid personnel prior to the beginning of employment.
9.4 Police record checks will be completed on all other volunteers prior to the commencement of their volunteer position.
9.5 All individuals outlined in policies 9.1-9.4 will complete a new police record check bi-annually. For these purposes a year will run from the Indoor to the Outdoor season (September – August).
9.6 Police record checks policies will be drawn up for each police detachment where volunteers reside.
9.7 Fees charged to volunteers for processing police record checks will be reimbursed by the BYSC.
9.8 The House League Coordinator and Rep Coordinator will be the Police Record Check Designates for the BYSC.
9.9 The Coordinators will screen all volunteers’ processed Police Record Checks. Volunteers whose applicants are in question will be reviewed by the Coordinator(s) and the President. |
